1915

Sheffner's is founded by Walter E. Sheffner and located in the 1900 block of West Monterey Avenue. The shop's primary focus is watch and jewelry repair and is managed by Walter (a watchmaker) and his wife, Maude (a pearl restringer), whom he met years earlier while working in the Elgin Watch Factory.

1937

Sheffner's has earned a solid reputation for fair prices and honest practices, and has developed a loyal customer base. The eldest son, William, joins Sheffner's as a watchmaker, following Walter's death.

1953

Sheffner's moves to its current location and expands services beyond watch repair and pearl restringing to include watch and clock sales, basic jewelry repairs, and repair of eyeglasses.

1980

Cindy Sheffner-Anderson, William's daughter, joins the family business. The store's expansion continues as high quality pieces of fine jewelry are offered for sale.

1990

Cindy assumes responsibility for Sheffners' operations following William's death. The store's continued success attracts the attention of jewelry designers who vie for representation in Sheffners' display cases.

2008

Cindy's daughter, Jacquie, earns her degree as a GIA graduate gemologist in New York and studies jewelry design in California. Jacquie then joins Sheffner's, enabling an expansion into custom jewelry design and onsite appraisals.

In addition to the owners, Sheffner's has 2 employees: Fran Leo who started in 1976 and Julie Boyle who has been with us since 1990. It's evident from the tenure of these two ladies that Sheffner's is a great environment where people truly love what they do.
